NPR has about the best basic explanation of Podcasting
that we can find. NPR also has tons of public radio
podcast feeds to choose from.
Got an iPod or other portable music player? Want to know how you
can automatically load it with today's Focus 580 program so you can listen
at the gym? Podcasting allows you to "subscribe" to RSS audio feeds so you
can listen on your schedule, not ours. Here's a great place to begin.
OK, here's an even simpler place to enter the world of podcasting.
We like to think we're cutting edge, but WNYC is cutting edgier. Subscribe to
OTM's Podcast Feed while you're visiting.
Here's a short film in RealVideo (actually SMIL but why
get technical?) that pretty much tells you everything you
need to know. Plus it's funny, so that's good right?
If you don't know anything about RSS, this is a great
place to start.
A very
comprehensive and somewhat technical description of RSS written by RSS
inventor Dave Winer. This site has great links to many RSS resources,
including RSS feed readers and aggregators, how-to articles, and tools.
A great place to get everything you ever wanted to know about RSS, and more.
A more basic introduction for those who simply want to try RSS.
This site also has some great links to other RSS resources.
Now that you know a little something about RSS, where do
you find a free RSS reader? Google to the rescue!
We've done some work for you by aggregating a growing
number of great feeds from NPR, the BBC, and other sites in
the pubcasting constellation. You can read the feeds
from our web page, but also feel free to parse the URLs for
RSS feeds to add to your own feed-reading system.
